Baby Steps

Sarah did fairly well today, though she refused to poop. She did confidently pee on the toilet once today. It had been a little over half an hour since we had tried and she was dry. As I was finishing my task, I told her it was time to try again. She raced off to the toilet, put her seat on top, pulled out the stool, pulled down her undies and by the time I reached her, she was almost done! We did a big 'ol happy dance.

All other attempts missed today. One try was just a few minutes too early and the rest of them were a little too late. She spent the whole day in undies, though, and went to bed proud of her progress, though she did lament that she wanted to be a baby again. Growing up is hard work. She's doing a great job of it, one baby step at a time. (And I smiled with her through the whole day, despite my frustration. It seems I'm growing up a little, too)

One thing I remember doing with Angie: I asked every five minutes or so "Do you have to go pee? Remember, no peeing in your undies. We pee on the potty." Over and over. It served two purposes. One, to get her to think about peeing and how it feels when you have to go pee. And two, to keep me focused and on task. It's too easy to get wrapped up in other things and forget your purpose. In the end, it paid off.

Good job on the firs day!
