Weeks ago, a late nap led my babies to have a late bedtime. Which led to sleeping in a little later than usual, which led to another late nap and an even later bedtime. It has been a terrible cycle that we were finally able to get out of yesterday.
I scheduled our day to be light on activities in the morning (just a quick trip to the grocery story) and heavier as the day progressed (cooking, special school work to kick off F week, stories, outside play time in the crazy summer-like weather we're having, more cooking for dinner etc.). This all kept the kids so occupied and distracted that no one noticed they were sleepy at what had become their nap time (3:30 is far too late to start a nap!) We might not have made it through dinner, since they all discovered their fatigue at the same time when they sat for their meal, if we hadn't been saved by an impromptu visit from PopPop and Kissie Grandma! 45 minutes of eating and playing did them in, though. And by 7:30, a far more reasonable bed time that the recent 9:30 or 10:00 times we've managed, all three babies were snoring in their beds.
Ahhh. Routine. I missed it.

Hmm. Have you seen Super Nanny? I'm making that face. :-)
Oh can those missed routines be bad. Fortunately, Angie never sleeps past about 9:00 in the morning (along with me) so even if she's in bed by 1:30 in the morning (a la Christmas and New Years eves) she's up at the same time. We can't sleep in and she rarely takes a nap (even when exhausted) so we are always able to keep our 7:30 bedtime. What luck!
