Toddler Fun #1

I've been trying to find things for my 19 month old twins and my 7 month old to do. Activities that are new to them that they will have fun with. This morning I chose an oldie, but a goodie!

Bowls:

I gave each of my children one of my metal mixing bowls and a wooden utensil ( I would say 'spoon' here, but I don't have that many regular wooden spoons!) They played with them on their own for a while, exploring the sounds and textures of each item. Then I showed them that they could put the bowl on a table and whack the side of it to get a really nice bell sound. They explored that for a while and then discovered that the bowls could stack together and then hold all the utensils! Finally they started putting their Cheerios in the bowls. They have been enjoying these activities for over an hour now and show no sign of boredom.

What do you do with your young toddlers? I'm always looking for good ideas and I plan on posting the most successful ones here.

See if you can check out from the library The Toddler's Busy Book, by Trish Kuffner. I have all three and there are lots of fun ideas in them.

PS: You keep ending all your posts with a question. Are you trying to drum up comments? :D
