Getting There . . .

We're closing in on Baby Day. My house is a mess, but it's less of a mess each day. Someday soon I hope to be able to say "There! We're done!" but I know housework is never really done. At least it will be easier to maintain once all this STUFF is out!

We picked up a free bed today that will go in the office/music room/school room/future baby room for Kissie Grandma to sleep in while she's here with us. So I guess we can add guest room to that long list of spare room uses.

School with the kids is going remarkable well. Everything is pretty well planned out and my system for getting the workboxes loaded is paying off nicely. Just 5 minutes the evening before (or afternoon) and we're all set for the next day. It's comforting to know that with a new baby, I'll still be able to get everything set up in just a few moments.

My mission today is to get my scary desk completely cleaned off and ready to move out. No more desk for me! (So I guess we'll be able to take 'office' off that long list of spare room uses . . .) Instead, we'll put a dresser where the desk was and it will make the room feel much bigger. And we'll have a drawer for Kissie Grandma to use while she's here and a place for baby clothes.

We're planning on sleeping the baby in our bedroom for the first month or two, in a cute little comfy basket someone gave us months ago. The basket will sit on our long low dresser and we'll be able to easily handle anything Baby needs at night.

I've realized that I don't have everything I'd like to for when Baby comes. I really should make a list and see about getting these things together. I'm not too stressed though. After all, we still have a little over two weeks! ;)

The kids and I have enjoyed a bunch of field trips these past few weeks. Twice to the Bronx Zoo, once to the NY Aquarium, and this Thursday, if all goes well, we'll be taking a trip to the beach, wrapping up our very enjoyable unit study on the ocean and our summer. After this trip, though, we'll be sticking pretty close to home, preparing for Kissie Grandma's visit, the new baby and keeping up with schooling.

When I started this blog, I did say that life is a work in progress. I like the progress we're making around here and I'm loving the journey. We'll do our best to update about the baby when there's news to tell. In the mean time, thanks for reading, and for loving us! :)
