She leaned over to hug me, as is her habit at dinner time.
"Mommy, I'm going to be your best friend forever!" She snuggled her head into my arm.
"Katie, you sure do know how to melt a Mommy's heart, don't you," I said, hugging her back.
She sat up straight and put her hand on my chest. She wore such a sweet expression, concerned, but not worried. When she spoke again, she was very matter-of-fact and reassuring.
"Your heart isn't melted all the way, Mommy."
Yes it is, sweetie. Yes it is!
