We almost didn't go to the local fireworks display last night. The kids had refused to nap earlier in the day and we were all still quite sick, some of us worse than others. Yet somehow, for some unknown reason, we still decided to go. So, after watching a little Lilo and Stitch, the twins current favorite movie, we packed everyone into the van and headed over to Grandma Russell's house. From there, after collecting Grandma & Grandpa, we walked over to the high school field.
When we arrived, there was lots of loud music and people dancing in the middle of the football field, so Sarah and Josie were immediately in heaven! Sarah is a very social little girl and loves big groups of people. Josie loves music and dancing. As soon as we laid out the blankets on the grass she started dancing and wiggling to the music! When it was time for the big show we each held a baby, covering their little ears. Sarah watched every moment. I'm not sure what Josie did, as she was with her daddy, but I know she saw at least some of it. Katie fell asleep. She saw the first little bit and was soon passed out in my arms! She didn't wake up until we had walked most of the way back to Grandma's house!
It was a lovely experience, I think, for all of them. I know Sarah certainly enjoyed her first fireworks and I think Katie and Josie will like it more next year.

One of the best parts is that after it's all over Katie wakes up bright and cheerful and we head back to Munga and Papa's house for cookies and to wait for the traffic to clear.
Sandie and Sam then pack the kids in the car and Katie says " I want to see the sparklies in the sky."
Gotta love kids!
