Poor Sarah. Even though she is feeling much better from her recent illness, she had to visit the doctor today for her Well Baby check-up. She is, after all, a year old now.
She happily chattered away at the nurse who came in to take her temperature, though she didn't like her head being measured. She actually sang while being weighed, much to the delight of everyone in the hallway.
She welcomed the doctor into the room with a cheerful "Hi!" and she danced on the table while he listened to her heart and lungs. I'm not sure he heard much , because he and Sarah spent far more time laughing than getting down to the serious business of her health. As the doctor left the room, Sarah waved goodbye and blew him a kiss.
She and I spent a few minutes dancing and singing in the exam room while we waited for the nurse to reappear for shots. Sarah smiled when she 'peek-a-booed' her way through the door. I think, though, that she knew something was up. She didn't talk or laugh, though there were a few smiles coaxed out of her. She carefully watched every move of the nurses hands.
We laid her down and the nurse injected the stuff for a TB test in her arm. She cried and shrieked something awful. The nurse took out a pen, circled the spot and then drew a smiley face around it! It took Sarah a minute but she looked at her new tattoo and grinned through her tears. Then came the two shots in her legs. She cried for each and then gave her smiley a grin. When it was all over, she looked at her other arm and held it out to the nurse. She wanted another tattoo!
We left with a happy Sarah (Who is 30 1/2 " tall and 24 lbs 5 oz.)
