My New Hobby

I think this might be addictive from the moment you touch the needles.

I stayed up late last night learning the knit and purl stitches. Then, when i finally did go to bed, I had strange dreams about knitting! Including one where there were hundreds of children who were going to freeze to death if I didn't get enough sweaters knitted in time. That's a lot of pressure for a beginner!!! lol

In my practicing, I've discovered that I like working with the 100% cotton yarn (the little skeins in the picture) much better than the 80% synthetic stuff. It doesn't slip as much and you don't get your needles caught up in the middle of a strand, which can cause some interesting results if you don't realize what's going on and treat these half strands as real stitches. You end up with 9 extra stitches in your swatch! lol

Maybe I will have a finished project to show off soon!

Thanks for getting me started, Jennie!

Big fun! I just started my baby sweater. Little things knit up pretty quickly! And I have requests for things like socks and slippers and sweaters for much bigger people...

BTW, I dreamed of nothing but knitting for the first two weeks. Addictive, indeed!
