Just Plain Mean

Is it difficult for one person to be civil to another? Even if the two people don't like each other, there is no reason to be rude or cruel, is there? I just don't understand some people.

The people I'm referring to, I suppose you might be able to guess, are the people who live above me. They have been stomping and dropping things and generally being loud as usual, but that isn't what's bothering me today. Their regular noises I have learned to deal with and tune out as best I can.

Last night, from about 10:30 until almost 1:00 in the morning, they were up there shouting much louder than usual, because they were all quite drunk. The babies woke up just after 11:30 and, upon hearing their cries, Lisa sarcastically shushed her group and said "don't wake up the babies." They spent a great deal of time afterwards laughing at her joke.

I don't begrudge her the lifestyle she's chosen. If she wants to stay up all night drinking with friends, that's fine. But there are small things she could easily do to show just the slightest bit of courtesy to the people she has to live with. She could have her gathering in her kitchen or living room instead of her bedroom (which is directly above our bedroom) for example.

She just doesn't care. I don't think she realizes that this is the very thing that's going to get her kicked out of her apartment. The landlords are not happy with her and have told us that they have begun the paperwork to get rid of her. They are just waiting for one more big thing to happen (I'm not sure why they are waiting, as the next big thing could be explosive . . .)

Thank you for listening to my venting. I know I tend to complain a lot on this blog and it might seem as though that's what I do all the time, but it's just a great way to get out my frustrations!

That is a thing. Most areas have noise laws after a certain time...10 or 11 usually. Find out. If she is bothering you that late, call the police.

You can hear what they are saying that clearly? Those are some really thin walls, I mean floors. This is why, back in our apartment dwelling days, I always lived in the upstairs units. Sure, you have to carry everything up, but the quiet benefits far outweigh that inconvenience.
