Doctor Update

Sorry I didn't post about the doctor visit like I promised to. Life got in the way and I forgot.

Katie was quite squirmy and upset whenever a nurse had to hold her or touch her for any reason. She didn't even like sitting on the scale. They wrote that Katie is 30 1/2 inches tall, but I think they were just tired of trying to get her to lie still for them! (I think she is a little taller than that.) She weighs a beautiful 23 lbs. 7 oz. and has been declared healthy. The doctor was very impressed with their development and enjoyed his 'conversation' with Josie, who is also 30 1/2 inches and 22 lbs. 6 oz.

Josie was a little upset, too, when the nurse had to do things, but she was a lot easier about it all. She also thought the scale was lots of fun. She happily sat on it and then she started standing up. She had such a cute grin on her face when she saw the blinking red numbers on the side.

They both got two shots each and a TB test in their arm. We have to go back today or tomorrow so a nurse can take a look at it.

I'm very glad that my mother-in-law came with us. She held Sarah for the first half of the visit and then, fortunately, Sarah fell sound asleep and we put her down in the stroller and Marian helped comfort Katie, who got her shots first, while I took care of Josie.

That's probably the worst job I have as a mom. I hate having to hold my baby down while she is crying so the big mean nurse can jab a needle into her cute chubby little thigh.

TB tests? None of us have ever gotten one, and I've read or been told - forget which - that they aren't necessary anymore unless you've been in close contact with someone afflicted. (Davey had been exposed in Korea, for instance.)
