. . . was in her daddy's lap crying because she was tired and cranky. He helped her stand up on his lap thinking that might make her happy. Once she got up there, she looked over at me, held her arms out and cried "Maaaaaa Maaaaaaa!"
Does she really know that I'm Ma ma? I don't think so . . . she has a tendancy to say that all the time and especially when she's sad, but I don't think she's connected it to me, but boy did my heart melt. I was teary when I picked her up and cuddled her . . which it seems is just what she needed, 'cause she stopped crying right away . . .

Kids learn word associations by the way you respond when they make certain sound combinations. So, even though she doesn't know what it means yet, if you keep responding when she does it, she'll soon know that you are MaMa and she'll be calling you on purpose!
It's worth getting teary eyed for!
